We have four different organic farming programs here at Cascadian Farm. But the goal of each is the same: produce great tasting organic crops that contribute to better health for consumers and the environment!
- Cascadian Home Farm. Our original farm, founded in 1972 by Gene Kahn, is considered the "heart & soul" of the company. Operated as a small organic farm (28 farmable acres), the farm's focus is on producing organic fresh produce (berries & vegetables) for sale to local retailers and to visitors at our roadside Farm Stand. Our main crop is organic blueberries... yummy! And our organic ice cream is to die for!
- Contract Grow Program. We contract directly with organic farmers in Washington & Oregon to buy sweet peas, sugar snap peas, potatoes, & sweet corn. Most of the veggies are frozen and sold under the Cascadian Farm brand but we also use them in our Muir Glen organic soups. We support our contract farmers with free technical advice to help them produce high yields of high quality crops.
- Custom Farming Program. We have custom farming programs for blueberries, blackberries, green beans, and sweet corn. We lease land, take the farming risk, make the farming decisions, and pay all crop production expenses. Custom farming helps us get enough supply, control crop quality, and reduce our costs.
- Mexican Broccoli Program. Our organic broccoli is contract grown near Irapuato, Mexico. We provide technical advice to the Green Giant agriculture staff who work directly with our organic farmers. Our organic broccoli is packed at the certified organic Green Giant vegetable processing plant located in Irapuato.
