I need to stock up on cloth napkins...

Don’t tell anyone, but I am using a baby washcloth for a napkin as I sit here munching my salad at my laptop. Yes, it is pretty sad when I am so short on cloth napkins that I turn to baby washcloths. But I least I am trying, right?

You see, I have been a paper napkin, paper towel using girl for years. But I am trying to cut back on my use of paper products and use cloth instead. While I still have a stash of paper towels in the house, I have been reaching more often for my pile of baby washcloths that I have on hand in my kitchen to clean up my toddler after she eats. Yes, the baby washcloths now clean up everything from messes on my 7 year old son’s face to spills on the floor. The other night, I even handed one as a napkin to my sister when she and her family were over for dinner.

As I passed my sister a pink baby washcloth to accompany her salmon dinner, I knew I must take action. I must get some more cloth napkins. The only cloth napkins I have in the house are the ones I reserve for “company.” I don’t want to reach for them for everyday meals and messes. So this week on my “to- do” list, I will be stocking up on everyday cloth napkins – and saving the baby washcloths for babies and bath time.
