Last week we snapped a few photos of the Blueberry Picker and showed them to you on Facebook. Here is a video of it being assembled. Farmer Jim is pretty excited to show it off. Enjoy!

Have you had a chance to pick fresh organic blueberries this year? In Washington state, we're at the tale end of our picking season. So if you haven't yet...you should soon!

Over the next few months we would like to share some videos with you from Farmer Jim, the head farmer at Cascadian Farm. Each video will focus on a different organic farming topic. We hope that these videos will give you a better understanding about how organic farming works. And for those of you that do your own organic farming and/or gardening at home, these videos should be even more beneficial for you.

This week Jim sheds some light on why it’s important to rotate your crops each season. If you have any other questions, leave them in the comment box below. Thanks and enjoy!

This is one important question that I posed to many of the people working at Cascadian Farm during my time in Washington State. And, in general, I feel like this is a great entry question to ask when starting to consider organic products.

What does organic mean? Is organic actually better than natural? If so, why? Craig Weakley was the man who answered all these questions (and many, many more) about the meaning of organic. Craig is the Director of Agriculture and Sustainability at Cascadian Farm, a fellow blogger and is extremely well versed in the ways of organic. Take a look below and see what he has to say about the organic vs. natural conversation. In the end, I hope you find that a topic that may have seemed clear as mud is actually pretty simple to understand.
